In the district of Burhaniye in Balıkesir, students of the Faculty of Applied Sciences (BUBFA) set up a stand to raise awareness about Celiac disease. At the stand established in Republic Square, information about Celiac disease was provided, brochures were distributed, and gluten-free foods prepared by the students were offered for tasting.

Third-year students of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts at Burhaniye Faculty of Applied Sciences (BUBFA) prepared a project in their teamwork course to raise awareness about Celiac disease. Within the scope of the project, which was also supported by the Edremit Gulf Celiac Association, the students informed citizens about Celiac disease, distributed brochures, and offered a variety of gluten-free foods they prepared, ranging from sweet to savory. The project called “Gluten-Free Life with BUBFA” attracted significant attention.

Betül Özdemir Kaya, President of the Edremit Gulf Celiac Association, thanked everyone who contributed and said:
“Today we are here to raise awareness about Celiac disease. Together with university students, we are holding a tasting event for the gluten-free products we prepared. As an association, we supported the students in this project. I would like to thank all the students and sponsors who contributed.”

Damla Bayram, who took part in the project, said:
“As part of our teamwork course, we are distributing posters and brochures to raise awareness about Celiac disease. In addition, we have started distributing the gluten-free products we prepared to the people of Burhaniye, especially those with Celiac disease.”

Another student involved in the project, Ramazan Can Bilgin, stated:
“As Burhaniye Faculty of Applied Sciences, we carried out this project today with seven of our friends under the leadership of our teacher Oğuzhan as part of the teamwork course to raise awareness about Celiac disease. We are very happy to realize this project.”

Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Oğuzhan İlban also said:
“One of our 14 different projects is ‘Gluten-Free Life with BUBFA.’ We aim to raise awareness about Celiac disease and the importance and value of a gluten-free lifestyle. This project is being carried out by our third-year Gastronomy and Culinary Arts students. I would like to thank the Celiac Association and our students who carried out this project.
