A special talk was organized within the scope of the “Sustainable Tourism” course at the Tourism Management Department of Balıkesir University Burhaniye Faculty of Applied Sciences (BUBFA).
In the course conducted by Prof. Dr. Sabriye Çelik Uğuz, Dr. Dilsen Oktay Ertem, the Olive Oil Panel Leader of the Burhaniye Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Slow Food Ölmez Ağaç/Edremit Gulf Community, attended as a guest speaker. Ertem delivered a presentation to the students on the topics of the Slow Food Movement, Slow Tourism and olives.
Thirty students from the Tourism Management Department participated in the talk. In order to provide students with a different experience, a tasting of five different olive oils was carried out during the event. Through the tasting activity, students gained knowledge about the diversity and flavor differences of olive oil.
BUBFA Dean Prof. Mehmet Oğuzhan İlban stated that the event was productive and expressed his thanks to Dr. Dilsen Oktay Ertem and the members of the Slow Food Ölmez Ağaç/Edremit Gulf community for their contributions.
