University Students in Burhaniye Learned Chocolate Making
Students of the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department at Balıkesir University Burhaniye Faculty of Applied Sciences received special training within the scope of the “Chocolate Workshop” program, where flavor and art meet, conducted by an expert instructor. During the workshop organized under the guidance of Instructor Chef Seda Nur Keskin, students had the opportunity to learn and practice the intricacies of chocolate artistry.
The workshop was attended by Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. M. Oğuzhan İlban, Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Solunoğlu, and faculty members of the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department Prof. Dr. Emel Memiş Kocaman, Lecturer Kaya Nihat Pekbay, and Research Assistant Setenay Melek Yurttabir. In the workshop, students learned the chocolate production process in detail from beginning to end. In addition to theoretical knowledge, the training was supported by practical applications, and students successfully carried out important steps related to chocolate making.
During the training, participants learned essential techniques such as properly melting and tempering chocolate. Using cocoa butter, oil-based food coloring, dried fruits, nuts, various couverture chocolate types, and molds, they created their own unique chocolate products.
Thanking those who participated in the workshop, Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. M. Oğuzhan İlban stated:
“The Chocolate Workshop event has been an important step in helping our students develop their knowledge and experience in the field of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts by allowing them to learn chocolate making in depth. I believe such practical activities are very important in contributing to the professional development of our students. I would like to thank Instructor Chef Seda Nur Keskin for her contributions and wish continued success to all the students who participated in the event.”
At the end of the training, Dean Prof. Dr. M. Oğuzhan İlban presented a plaque to Instructor Chef Seda Nur Keskin and thanked her for her contributions.
