In the district of Burhaniye, students of the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department of Balıkesir University Burhaniye School of Applied Sciences (BUBYO) carried out their first technical visit to an olive oil factory. The students, who watched the transformation of olives into olive oil at the factory, gained an important experience.
Students of the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department of Burhaniye School of Applied Sciences conducted a technical visit to the Tariş Olive Oil Factory accompanied by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Solunoğlu, and lecturers K. Nihat Pekbay and Nuray Unat İlban. During the visit, the BUBYO delegation was accompanied by Tariş Factory Supervisor Yalçın Sence and Tariş Manager Emrah Öztürk. Within the scope of the technical visit, the process from the harvesting of olives to the point where olive oil reaches the tables was explained in detail.
Explaining that the visit was very useful, BUBYO Director Prof. Dr. M. Oğuzhan İlban said, “Our students gained experience. They learned how olive oil is prepared. They gained knowledge about the quality tests of olive oil. In short, it was a useful visit.”
Tariş Manager Emrah Öztürk, who provided information to the students about the processing of olives, expressed his satisfaction with the visit.
