It has been announced that student admissions will begin in the 2021–2022 academic year for the newly established Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts at the Balıkesir University Burhaniye School of Applied Sciences.

The announcement was made by Namık Kemal Gedikoğlu, Chairman of the AK Party Burhaniye District Organization, who also shared the good news that the School of Applied Sciences will soon be transformed into a faculty. Gedikoğlu stated that the newly opened department will make significant contributions to both Balıkesir and Burhaniye, adding:

“Student admissions will be carried out for the newly established Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts in the 2021–2022 academic year. Furthermore, the School of Applied Sciences will soon be upgraded to faculty status. On behalf of all residents of Burhaniye, I would like to express our gratitude to our Rector Prof. Dr. İlter Kuş, our School Director Prof. Dr. Mehmet Oğuzhan İlban, and our District Governor İlyas Memiş for their support during this process.

We wish the new department great success and believe it will be highly beneficial for both Balıkesir University and our town Burhaniye. Balıkesir is already known as a city of gastronomy, and now Burhaniye proudly joins in that legacy. We eagerly await the establishment of the first faculty in the Gulf region.”
