Italian Cuisine Course for Gastronomy Students in Burhaniye
The key techniques of Italian cuisine were introduced to third-year students of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts at Balıkesir University, Burhaniye Faculty of Applied Sciences. The session, conducted by Chef Gizem Manisalı, owner of Özemle Yaşam, was delivered in a practical format and attracted great interest from the students.
Held in the kitchen of the Burhaniye Faculty of Applied Sciences, the workshop focused on classic Italian dishes such as pizza, pasta, panna cotta, cannoli, mozzarella, vitello tonnato, minestrone, focaccia, and caprese. Chef Manisalı provided hands-on demonstrations and shared essential tips about authentic Italian cooking techniques.
Under the supervision of Lecturer Nihat Pekbay, students actively participated in the practical session, which received considerable attention. The dishes prepared during the class were served to invited guests.
Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. M. Oğuzhan İlban, expressed his satisfaction with the workshop led by the experienced Chef Gizem Manisalı, emphasizing that such hands-on sessions will continue to be organized in order to enhance students’ knowledge and skills in international cuisines.
At the end of the event, Prof. Dr. M. Oğuzhan İlban presented a Certificate of Appreciation and flowers to Chef Gizem Manisalı. The program concluded with a group photo session.
