Hot Meal Support from Gastronomy Students in Balıkesir for People in Need
In the Burhaniye district of Balıkesir, meals prepared by gastronomy students are being delivered to families in need as part of a meaningful social responsibility project.
Students from the Balıkesir University Burhaniye Faculty of Applied Sciences (BUBFA) are preparing hot meals daily for 37 families identified within the scope of the project. The initiative, carried out by students of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts — Buse Nur Ersoylu, Seçkin Onur Bayrak, Azra Kaynarca, Taner Çakar, Ece Nur Kalaycık, and Halil İbrahim Erdoğan — was developed as part of the “Teamwork” course taught by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Oğuzhan İlban, Dean of the Faculty.
The meals, prepared with great care in the faculty’s modern training kitchen, are managed through every stage — from cooking to packaging — with the active participation of both students and faculty members. Prof. Dr. İlban, who personally took part in the process, stated:
“As in our previous projects, we attach great importance to social responsibility initiatives as well. This has been a very meaningful experience for us. I saw how eager and enthusiastic our students were while participating in this project. They worked with great dedication to ensure the prepared meals reached their destinations as quickly as possible. We also tried to support them in every way we could.”
Congratulating all the students involved, Prof. Dr. İlban emphasized that such valuable social responsibility projects will continue in the future.
A total of 151 portions of meals were delivered to 37 households, bringing warmth and comfort to the recipients. The delivery process created heartfelt moments that deeply touched both the students and the families they supported.
