Students from the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department and the Tourism Management Department of Burhaniye Faculty of Applied Sciences (BUBFA), affiliated with Balıkesir University, carried out the project titled “Honey-Filled Flavors with BUBFA” within the scope of the Teamwork course.
Within the project, honey-based recipes prepared by the students were shared on social media and YouTube accounts. In addition, children between the ages of 3 and 6 were informed about the world of bees and the importance of honey, and some of the honey recipes prepared by the students were served to the children. The event ended with face painting and games.
Among the organizations supporting the project were Burhaniye Municipality, Bayramoğlu Kuyumculuk, BAÇEM, Ören Dans Organizasyon, Martin Brothers Food, and Private Mercan Adası Kindergarten. Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Oğuzhan İlban thanked the students and stated that the Faculty of Applied Sciences will continue to produce projects that will add value to the region and the country.
Şevki Samet Yılmaz, a member of the project team, explained that the aim of the project was to emphasize the gastronomic richness of the region and to help children love bees and honey. Yılmaz also thanked the instructors and supporters who contributed to the realization of the project.
