Diabetes-Free Life Booth Attracted Great Interest in Burhaniye
Students from the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts at the Faculty of Applied Sciences (BUBFA) of Balıkesir University, located in Burhaniye, came together during their Teamwork course to set up the “Diabetes-Free Life” Booth. The stand was managed by students who measured the blood sugar levels of their peers and instructors.
Students Measuring Blood Sugar Provided Health Advice
At the “Diabetes-Free Life” booth, established in the faculty hall, Buse Yılmaz and Yiğit Uyanık, both graduates of a Health Vocational High School, measured the blood sugar levels of their friends and lecturers. The students emphasized the importance of healthy nutrition and an active lifestyle, offering advice and refreshments to those visiting the booth.
The Popular Booth Demonstrated Project Success
The “Diabetes-Free Life” booth attracted great attention within the faculty. Elif Korkmaz, the project leader, explained the purpose of the initiative as follows:
“Under the guidance of our professor, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Oğuzhan İlban, we implemented our project within the scope of the teamwork course to draw attention to a diabetes-free lifestyle. At our booth, we measured the blood sugar levels of our friends and instructors. The stand received great interest. We recommend more physical activity and healthy nutrition, and we also offered refreshments. Our efforts will continue.”
Dean İlban: ‘Our Projects Will Continue’
Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Oğuzhan İlban congratulated the students for their successful work, stating:
“Many meaningful projects were developed within the scope of the teamwork course. The BUBFA and Diabetes-Free Life Project is one of them. This project was carried out by our Gastronomy and Culinary Arts students. Our main goal was to show how a diabetes-free life can be achieved. I congratulate all the students who took part in this project. Our projects will continue.”
