Creativity and Science Met the World of Gastronomy at BUBFA
The seminar titled “R&D and Demo Applications in Gastronomy: The Meeting Point of Creativity and Science” was held in cooperation with Pınar and Kısık Ateş Academy.
At the seminar organized in the Şehit Mehmet Kiraz Conference Hall of the faculty, Pınar Demo Chef Simay Gönen Başural shared her sectoral experiences with the students. Through the seminar, students learned the requirements of being an R&D chef and a demo chef, while also discovering that as graduates of the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department they can pursue different fields of specialization in their careers. At the end of the seminar, Vice Dean Dr. Fatih Çolakoğlu presented a certificate of appreciation and flowers to Pınar Demo Chef Başural and thanked her for her contributions.
In the second part of the event, a workshop that attracted great interest from students was organized in the Balıkesir Education Kitchen. Third and fourth-year Gastronomy and Culinary Arts students were taught how to prepare soufflé with Pınar Choco Labne and hot dogs with Pınar Hotdog Beef Sausage. Participants had the opportunity not only to taste the dishes they prepared but also to learn kitchen techniques and important tips from the world of gastronomy, as well as the details of being a demo chef and effective presentation techniques.
BUBFA will continue to bring together innovative and scientific approaches in the future through such events aimed at improving students’ professional competencies.
