Career Days Events at BUBFA Came to an End
In Burhaniye district of Balıkesir, “Career Days 7”, organized under the coordination of the Faculty of Applied Sciences Alumni Employment Office, concluded with the final event. Organized by the Burhaniye Faculty of Applied Sciences Alumni Employment Office of Balıkesir University, four events themed “Career Days 7” were held between February 14 and March 8 with the participation of general managers, executive chefs, and department managers from leading tourism sector chain group businesses such as Swissotel Resort Bodrum Beach, Doğuş Hospitality & Retail D-Resort Ayvalık, Merit Royal Premium Hotel SPA & Casino, and AHG Allium Bodrum Resort & SPA.
The events, held on different dates, were attended by Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Oğuzhan İlban, Alumni Employment Office Coordinator and Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Oğuzhan Dülgaroğlu, Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Solunoğlu, department heads, academic and administrative staff, and students. The “Career Days 7” events, which attracted great interest from students of the Burhaniye Faculty of Applied Sciences, hosted many sector representatives.
From Swissotel Resort Bodrum Beach: Front Office Manager Mertcan Gençer, Venues Manager Uğur Uncu, Executive Pastry Chef Mehmet Furkan Sünger, and Spa Manager Burcu Tağlı Meniz;
from D-Resort Ayvalık: General Manager Cantekin Kesmen, Food and Beverage Manager Tahir Tohumcu, Front Office Manager Ozan Çilesiz, Assistant Front Office Manager Yiğitcan Uysal, Human Resources Manager Zeynep Aslı Akdağ Yiğit, Human Resources Chief Merve Gündoğan, Executive Chef Sacit Erdem Öztürk, Sous Chef İbrahim Kanap, and Sous Chef Zekai Samet İçöz;

and from AHG Allium Bodrum Resort & Spa: Human Resources Manager Deniz Terzi, Executive Chef Akif Aksoy, F&B Manager Olcan Gülsever, Reservation & Revenue Manager Handan Aşçı, and Sous Chef Gizem Özcan attended the events and shared their professional experiences with the students.
Throughout the programs, students were informed about the opportunities provided by these businesses and the recruitment processes. In addition, on designated days, resumes were collected from students who wanted to apply for jobs and recruitment interviews were conducted.
Students had the opportunity to listen to and meet nearly 20 sector representatives, and thanks to the programs they were able to find answers to many questions they had about their future careers. At the end of each event, a question-and-answer session about the tourism sector and working conditions was also held.
Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Oğuzhan İlban stated regarding the event:
“By making this activity continuous, we are filling an important gap for our students. I would like to thank the leading representatives of the sector who participated in the programs, shared their experiences with us, and contributed to our students’ development in tourism and their employment after graduation. Such events will continue. I would also like to thank BUBFA Alumni Employment Office Coordinator and my Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Oğuzhan Dülgaroğlu for organizing these events and providing our students with the opportunity to work in high-level enterprises. I believe that these events held with the managers of D-Resort Ayvalık—one of the companies we describe as the ‘Champions League’ among the businesses our employment office collaborates with—are very beneficial for our students’ career development.”
