The theme of the 7th Career Days organized this year was “Doğuş Hospitality & Retail D-Resort Ayvalık.”
The event, organized by the Alumni Employment Office of Balıkesir University Faculty of Applied Sciences, was held in the Mehmet Selim Kiraz Conference Hall of the faculty. Senior executives and department managers working within Doğuş Holding’s Hospitality & Retail group attended the event as speakers.
At the Career Days event, which attracted great interest from students, D-Resort Ayvalık General Manager Cantekin Kesmen, Food and Beverage Manager Tahir Tohumcu, Front Office Manager Ozan Çilesiz, Assistant Front Office Manager Yiğitcan Uysal, Human Resources Manager Zeynep Aslı Akdağ Yiğit, Human Resources Chief Merve Gündoğan, Executive Chef Sacit Erdem Öztürk, Sous Chef İbrahim Kanap, and Sous Chef Zekai Samet İçöz shared their experiences about the institutions they work for and the sector.
During the event, students’ questions about the career paths of sector representatives were answered, and they were informed about the opportunities provided by businesses and the recruitment process. In addition, resumes were collected from students who wished to apply for jobs, and recruitment interviews were conducted.
Burhaniye Faculty of Applied Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Oğuzhan İlban said, “We exist as long as our students exist and as long as we achieve success with high-level service providers like you, and in this way we are strong. I would like to thank the Coordinator of the BUBFA Alumni Employment Office and my Vice Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Oğuzhan Dülgaroğlu, for organizing this event. I believe that this event, held with the managers of D-Resort Ayvalık—one of the businesses we describe as the ‘Champions League’ among the companies our employment office collaborates with—has been beneficial for our students. Similar beneficial events for our students will continue.”
Sector representatives, who provided detailed information about the tourism sector and working conditions, answered students’ questions at the end of the program. The event concluded with Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Oğuzhan İlban presenting certificates of appreciation to the guests.
