BUBYO Collected Medals at Gastronomy Competitions
In the district of Burhaniye in Balıkesir, students of the Tourism Management and Hospitality Department of the School of Applied Sciences (BUBYO) won a total of 10 medals at the Inter-Institutional Cooking Competition held in Sındırgı and the 3rd Kazdağları Culinary Competition held in Altınoluk. In the cooking competition held in Sındırgı, 4th-year students Tugay Eroğlu, Yasemin Karabel, Emre Öztürk and İsmail Şen won the bronze medal by placing 3rd as a team.
At the 3rd Kazdağları Culinary Competition held in Altınoluk, where a total of 297 competitors participated, 3rd-year students Cihan Çağlar, Oral Özer and Güldane Avcı won the silver medal by placing 2nd in the “Inter-University” category, while 1st-year students Soner Gülgönül, Batuhan Yılmazer and Betül Akyıldız, who competed in the same category, shared the 2nd place with the other BUBYO students as a team and won a silver medal. In the same competition, students also won 2 bronze medals in the “Individual Young Golden Chef of the Year” category and 1 bronze medal in the “Individual Pasta” category.
The students presented the medals they had won to the Director of the School, Assoc. Prof. Dr. M. Oğuzhan İlban, in his office and thanked him for his support. Congratulating the students for their achievements in the competitions, Director İlban said, “I congratulate our students for their success. I am very pleased that they have also made the name of BUBYO known in the field of gastronomy. Such successes and medals are the fundamental elements that strengthen the BUBYO spirit. These are medals that reflect our difference and the quality of the education we provide. In the coming periods, we will work harder to make the name of BUBYO heard more strongly by participating in these competitions with more of our students.
