The Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Program adopts a comprehensive educational approach that addresses the processes of food and beverage preparation and presentation together with their scientific foundations, while also encompassing the management processes of food and beverage establishments. Within the scope of the program, students are expected to acquire both theoretical knowledge and practice-oriented professional skills; accordingly, the program aims to educate qualified human resources for the gastronomy sector.
The Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts was established in the 2021–2022 academic year. Following the transformation of the Burhaniye School of Applied Sciences into the Burhaniye Faculty of Applied Sciences (BUBFA) in 2022, the department has continued its educational and instructional activities under the faculty structure. The primary objective of the program is to train well-equipped entrepreneur and manager candidates who can meet the needs of the business world, particularly in the food and beverage sector.
The duration of education in the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Program is four years. In order to graduate, students are required to successfully complete a compulsory internship of 90 working days and fulfill a total of 240 ECTS credits. Graduates who successfully complete the program are awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Gastronomy and Culinary Arts. Graduates may be employed in various businesses and institutions within the field of gastronomy, particularly in food and beverage establishments.
